Care Center Building
Dahlonega Care Center is housed in the old Seabolt House which had
been deeded to two churches in the Dahlonega community. The home had
been placed for sale by the churches, which at one time turned down an offer
because it was too low.
Originally the Board of Directors felt that renting a building or office
space was the only choice we had, in our minds buying a building just wasn't
an option. When one to rent could not be found God, through certain
individuals, turned their attention to the property owned by the two
churches. The churches voted to sell the property to Dahlonega Care
Center and also to donate $5,000 from each church toward the purchase price,
which was now lower than the previously rejected offer.
The Board chose not to get a loan in any individual name. God
worked out the details and, even without a credit history of it's own,
Dahlonega Care Center was given a loan with very good terms by United
Community Bank.
The people of the communities of Dawson and Lumpkin Counties came
together, and the building was completely remodeled. On February 16,
1998, the doors to Dahlonega Care Center were opened at 353 North Grove
Street in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Baby Bottle fundraising program
The Dahlonega Care Center (DCC) has baby bottles labeled "Change for
Life" for you or your business, if you are interested. The bottles
have curled ribbons tied around the top of the bottle and are cute to have
displayed as a means of collecting money for donations to DCC to help the
moms and babies. Please call if you would like one for yourself or,
like others, to be used by groups such as Sunday School Classes, Ladies
Groups, Vacation Bible School, etc. Call (706) 867-7452 Wednesday
through Friday between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm.
